Charles Williams was the prolific author of numerous seminal novels, including Dead Calm, which became the Nicole Kidman movie; Hell Hath No Fury, which was filmed as “The Hot Spot,” and The Long Saturday Night, which was the basis for Francois Truffaut’s last film, “Confidentially Yours.”
